Aqara kicks off Kickstarter for its new smart lock

Aqara's new smart lock U200 is now launching on Kickstarter. The lock consists of two parts, an outdoor part and an indoor part that is placed over your existing lock door. The lock supports Matter and Apple HomeKey (to be launched at a later stage) and can be locked and unlocked in a number of ways. NFC tags, code, fingerprint and automatic unlock.

The campaign has already raised over SEK 3 million. Liked Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4 you have the possibility to supply the lock with constant current but also with battery. According to Aqara, the battery life is 6 months. The lock looks to come in four different colors, white, black, silver and wood paneled. Your fingerprint and codes should be stored locally with AES encryption without being uploaded to any cloud. With Aqara's hubs such as Aqara Camera Hub G3 You have the ability to automate various flows. The lock has an IP rating of IPX5 and the operating temperature is between -18°C to 66°C. An indoor part for the EU is available but how wide the lock will work on our doors here in Sweden is still a bit unclear.
